6 Popular Window Designs that has taken the Modern Homes by Storm

Choosing the right window style for your home is not that easy. The process requires plenty of time along with consideration of a number of factors. The windows you choose reflect a style and architecture that complements your interiors. Besides, they let sunlight and fresh air enter into your home, thereby brightening your living spaces. There are a plethora of designs available in home window designs and to pick the right one, you have to understand “the soul” of your home.

Some of the modern home window designs are listed below:

1. Casement Windows

Casement window opens outwards similar to a door. It is hinged on the sides and doesn’t have a rail, which is why it looks like a picture window. This window design has the screens on the internal part and can be opened with a hard crank.

2. Fixed Windows

Fixed windows also known as picture windows are fixed to a frame and cannot slide, swing or tilt. They are not a good choice for rooms where fresh air is needed, but are energy efficient and come in attractive designs. This window style is available in distinct sizes and shapes, including square, round, half-round, and trapezoid, etc.

3. Awning Windows

Awning windows are hinged to help it open outwards from the frame’s bottom. They are designed in such a way to slide the water away from the window opening. They are generally positioned above fixed windows and are an ideal choice for rooms where ventilation and privacy are more important than aesthetics.

4. Horizontal Sliders

This is the most common type of window design, as they do not occupy much space. They showcase single glass panes that slide either to the left or the right and ensure maximum air circulation within your living spaces.

5. Double-Hung and Single-Hung Windows

A double-hung window has two operable panes in which the lower one is moved parallel to the upper one and the latter is moved to rest on it, allowing the window to open vertically. This design is a perfect choice for ventilation and can let air enter both from the top as well as the bottom.
Single-hung windows, on the other hand have only the lower pane operable and moves parallel to the upper one, while the latter remains fixed. Both these window styles come with central handles and locks.

6. Sliding Windows

Sliding windows have two panes of glass with each just half the window width. While one of the panes is movable, the other one is fixed. The movable pane slides horizontally towards the other in order to let fresh air inside the room. Larger windows that are 8 feet wide or more can have three panes with one fixed in the middle and other two flexible panes on both sides. These windows don’t swing and therefore don’t occupy space when opened.

These are some of the window designs available nowadays. A reliable UPVC windows company can help you pick the right design that complements your interiors with ease. Such a company not only stocks UPVC windows but also provides a myriad of designs in windows and doors.
